APPLICATIONS

General Rubber's Style 1094 Maxi-Span can be used in the most demanding industrial Ducting Systems, including a variety of dry corrosive applications (e.g. Flue Gas cycling through its dew point, Sulfur Dioxide, Sulfuric Acid, and most other chemicals).

The Maxi-Span Series of non-metallic expansion joints are ideally suited for new construction, as well as replacement and retrofit applications. Our engineers are available to review your requirements or to conduct an on-site inspection of your entire ducting system. We will be delighted to recommend one of our designs or develop one specific to your needs.

VARIATIONS

General Rubber's Style 1094 Maxi-Span can be supplied with Flow Liners/Baffles for highly abrasive service and an additional Insulation Pillow for higher system temperatures. Custom-engineered frames are also available in all material types.

Retaining Rings/Backing Bars are A-36 carbon steel with zinc rich paint finish as a standard, 1/4" TH for ± 2psi and 3/8" for ± 3psi. Also available in hot dip galvanized finish or stainless steel and other material. Suggested bolt spacing at 4" max.
Product Weight – Retaining Rings/Backing Bars 1/4" TH x 2" are approximately 2.5 lbs. per linear foot, 3/8" TH x 2" are approximately 3.75 lbs. per linear foot. The Expansion Joint material is approximately 0.8 lbs. per square foot. Add 7" to installed F/F dimension when calculating total square feet.

Notes:
1) Extension movement capabilities can be increased with additional pre-compression during installation.
2) Do to the thick insulation layer extending into the flange, a full seal may not be achieved.
3) Anchors should be used to resist the pressure thrust force and isolate the thermal movements between expansion joints.
4) For vacuum or large pre-compressed applications a set-back may be required to keep the expansion joint from protruding into the gas stream or touching the flow liner/baffle.
