Spool Type (Narrow Arch)

Style 1025, 1050, 1075

Complete Size Range
1"ID thru 144"ID
Single & Multiple Arch

A. SINGLE ARCH
Style 1025, 1050, 1075, 2000

Construction is of high strength fabric and elastomer, reinforced with metal rings or wire. The flanges are integral with the body of the joint and drilled to conform to the bolt holes of the companion metal flanges of the pipe line. This type of rubber faced flange is of sufficient thickness to form a tight seal against the metal flanges without the use of gaskets. Technical data for styles 1025, 1050 and 1075 are found in Table V, Page 9.

B. MULTIPLE ARCH TYPE
Style 1025, 1050, 1075, 2000

Joints with two or more arches may be manufactured to accommodate movements greater than those of which a single arch joint is capable.

Multiple arch joints are composites of standard sized arches and are capable of movements of a single arch joint multiplied by the number of arches.

The minimum length of the joint is dependent upon the number of arches. In order to maintain lateral stability and prevent sagging and bowing when the joint is installed in a horizontal position, a maximum of four(4) arches are recommended. See Table II, Page 11 for multiple arch movement and recommended length.

TAPERED JOINTS
With Steel retaining Rings

Style 1025, 1050, 2000

Tapered expansion joints are used to connect piping of unequal diameters. They may be manufactured as concentric taper joints with the axis of each end concentric with each other, or as eccentric taper joints having the axis of each end offset from each other. Tapers in excess of 15 are not recommended. See page 12 for details and descriptions.

CLAMP TYPE EXPANSION JOINTS

Style 1081, 1082, 1083

Sizes Available 2" thru 36" I.D.

These joints are designed to slip-over schedule 40 pipe ends and to be held in place by clamps thus eliminating the need for flanges. A soft cuff is provided on both ends to assure a seal. See page 13 for details of styles 1081 (1 arch). 1082 (2 arches) and 1083 (3 arches).

FILLED ARCHES
With Steel Retaining Rings

Style 1025, 1050, 1075, 2000

Any arch type joint may be supplied with a soft rubber arch filler to provide a smooth interior, reduce turbulence and prevent the collection of solid material that may settle from the solution being conveyed and remain in the archway. Filled arches built as an integral part of the carcass decrease the flexibility of the joint and should be used only when necessary. Movement of joints with filled arches are reduced to 50% of the normal movements of comparable size joints with unfilled arches.

NAVY EXPANSION JOINTS
With Steel Retaining Rings

Style 2035

The US Navy specification MIL E-15330-D was cancelled 10 August 1993, USN Notice No. 2, for Class "A" expansion joints was superceded by ASTM Spec. F1123-87, Style 2035 meets the ASTM spec and is available in sizes through 42" I.D. Pressure ratings are in accordance with government specification and motion capability is the same as the Style 1050 (see Table II). Available in open or filled arch design.

MIL-spec joints are available in single or multiple arches (Class A Type 1). Slip-over expansion joints (Class B) are also available in pipe dimensions for all sizes (2"-12"). They shall conform to outside diameter pipe dimensions and 7" end-to-end dimensions for all sizes.
